Practice Policies

Practice Policies
These policies are designed to help clients understand the expectations and boundaries of therapy services at Crescent Moon Therapy. Please review them carefully before beginning treatment. By engaging in services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these policies.
Appointments and Cancellations
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. You can do so by email or phone—if I do not answer, please leave a voicemail. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be billed at the full session fee. Because each appointment time is reserved exclusively for you, arriving late may reduce the length of your session.
Standard therapy sessions are 55 minutes. If you’d like to request a longer or shorter session, please discuss it with me in advance so we can adjust the schedule accordingly.
Accessibility and Communication
If you need to reach me between sessions, you may email or leave a voicemail. I will make every effort to return your message within 24 hours on business days. I do not provide on-call or crisis services.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact one of the following resources:
- Call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
- Go to your nearest emergency department
- Call 911 if you are in immediate danger
For urgent issues that are not emergencies, you may also reach out to the Pierce County Crisis Line at 1-800-576-7764.
Social Media and Telecommunication
To protect your privacy and maintain clear professional boundaries, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). This helps preserve your confidentiality and the integrity of our therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this policy, we can discuss it during a session.
Emotional Support Animal Letters
Please note that I do not provide letters or documentation for emotional support animals (ESAs). If you need this service, I can refer you to qualified providers who specialize in ESA evaluations.
Electronic Communication and Telehealth
I cannot guarantee the confidentiality of any communication transmitted electronically, including text messages or email. These methods are best used only for scheduling or logistical matters.
Telehealth (therapy conducted via video or phone) is considered telemedicine under Washington State law and is subject to the same confidentiality and ethical standards as in-person sessions. By participating in telehealth, you acknowledge and understand that:
- You may withdraw consent for telehealth at any time without penalty or loss of access to care.
- All confidentiality protections under state and federal law apply equally.
- Your access to medical records and session documentation remains guaranteed.
- No identifiable images or information will be shared with third parties without your written consent.
- Telehealth carries potential risks and benefits, including possible limits to observation and environmental context.
Termination of Services
Ending therapy is an important and often meaningful part of the therapeutic process. If therapy needs to conclude, I aim to provide appropriate discussion, closure, and referrals as needed.
Therapy may be terminated if:
- We agree that therapy goals have been met or services are no longer needed.
- You are not benefiting from therapy, and a referral is more appropriate.
- Payments are in default, or appointments are missed repeatedly without communication.
If you fail to schedule or attend sessions for three consecutive weeks without prior arrangement, I will consider the professional relationship discontinued.
Complaint Process
I strive to provide compassionate, ethical, and professional care. If you ever have concerns about your therapy, I encourage you to discuss them with me directly so that we can address them together. If you wish to file a formal complaint, you may contact:
